So that October, when Chris received an offer to write an entire sci-fi screenplay for a major AI company, he said “yes,” grim as the prospect was. Since then, he has gone from gig to gig. “This is my only source of income right now,” he says. “I know people who are award-winning producers and directors, and they’re not advertising that they’re doing this work, but that’s how they’re putting food on the table.”
